Jaswant Thada, Jodhpur

Jaswant Thada, JodhpurJaswant Thada in Jodhpur City of Rajasthan was built in the year 1899 in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh by his son Sardar Singh. Built all in marble, the cenotaph is a landmark in the City of Jodhpur. The architectural marvel along with its picture perfect settings and dignified beauty is a sight to behold.

The far famed Rajputana style of architecture reflects through the structure of the memorial. The main cenotaph that stands in the center of Jaswant Thada is really stunning. Adorned with domes, ornamented sculptures and pillars, the structure is a feast for the eyes of the on-lookers.

There is a separate section of cenotaphs that has been dedicated to the former queens. The pillars erected in this section have figures of dancing girls engraved on them. These pillars are a fine example of the artistic genius of the workers who created them.

The interiors of the palace will bowl you over with their magnificence. The elegant portraits that adorn the walls of the monument are simply breath taking. While you are inside Jaswant Thada, you will feel as you have stepped back into the rich past of the Rajasthan state. The intricate latticework that beautifies the display of Jaswant Thada will leave you speechless at the very first glimpse.

Jaswant Thada remains open from 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening. Indian nationals have to pay Rs 5 per head while the foreign nationals have to pay Rs 10 per head as the entry fees for the fort. Spare some time to see the mesmerizing view of the surroundings of the monument from its terrace. It will indeed be an addition to the memorable experience.
