Umed Bhawan Palace, Kota

Umed Bhawan Palace, KotaUmaid Bhawan Palace is one of the largest private residences the world over. The palace was built for the personal use of the royal families of Jodhpur. The golden yellow structure in sandstone glistens brightly under the honey hued rays of the sun. The Umaid Bhawan Palace enables you to enfold every chapter of the medieval period of history.

The architectural epitome was built in the Art Deco style. The architecture of the palace is a mix of the Renaissance framework with Rajput tradition. The credit for the splendid designing goes solely to the efficient Edwardian architect Henry Lanchester. No two suites in the palace are similar. Each one is a fine example of royal grandeur with stunning interiors adorned by extraordinary artwork and gilt furniture.

The palace has now been converted into a heritage hotel that offers a comfortable and a luxurious stay to tourists visiting from all corners of the globe. Royal ambience is visible all across the palatial structure. The royal suites that are now open for tourists were the hot favourites of the former regal families. Mighty maharajas and ambrosial maharanis had developed a special love for this architectural marvel.

The most enticing part of the Umaid Bhawan Palace is the museum it houses. As soon as you enter the museum, you are taken back to the yesteryears. The museum displays an array of the age-old antiques.

While you visit the awe-inspiring Umaid Bhawan Palace, spare some time to see the nearby villages so as to taste the true flavour of the rural side of Rajasthan. Add some excitement to your vacation. Enjoy staying royal while you shop rural. Pick some exquisite artefacts from the small shops set in the villages.

You can also go for a village safari that helps you explore best the villages that surround the countryside. Peep into a lifestyle of the rustic folks and do not miss the opportunity of interacting with them.
